Kate Wollman's Story
As a freshman entering Northwestern last year, I remember receiving emails about service trips through the Sheil Catholic Center. The trip to Nicaragua, in particular caught my eye. However, I figured I should start off a little smaller, and excitedly signed up for the Spring trip to New Orleans. Going on this service trip was an incredible experience for me. I was able to do my part to help rebuild the city, while experiencing the culture of New Orleans and making great friends.
So now, with one service trip and a year of college under my belt, I am ready to venture a bit farther from home. Working in Nicaragua will be the chance of a lifetime. There is nothing better than helping those in need, and being to know that you were able to make a difference in their lives. We are so often caught up in our own busy lives, that it is easy to forget this. With this service trip however, I am getting the chance to volunteer alongside an incredible, caring group. In addition, going to Nicaragua will offer me the chance to travel abroad and become educated about other cultures firsthand. I hope that over the course of the trip I can learn a little something from the people of Cusmapa.
Now, for the reason you've been invited to this web page. This amazing trip unfortunately, comes at a high cost. So if you feel comfortable doing so, I'd really appreciate it if you could donate to help make it a bit more manageable. Even the smallest donations help! Please think about contributing to a wonderful cause. Thank you so much!
