As some of you may remember, in December of 2012, I went to Nicaragua as part of Northwestern's Sheil Catholic Center's mission and service trip (read about it here). Again this December, I will be returning to Cusmapa, the little village in the northern mountains of Nicaragua! This time though I will be one of two students leading the trip. I am so excited to be returning to Cusmapa--to possibly see some of the adorable little kids who I saw two years ago (who are probably not so little anymore), to learn from them as I offer my hand and heart in service, to lead and get to know the Northwestern students who have this opportunity for the first time, and most importantly to open my heart to Christ and what He has to teach me. It is hard not to have expectations, since I have been to the same place with the same organization before, but I am open to the new possibilities and opportunities for service, friendship, love, and personal growth.
The cost for this year's trip is $1,900 per person. Many of our students would not be able to make the trip without the help of fundraising efforts. Any donation that you can contribute to our efforts is greatly appreciated, there is no amount too small! Donations first go to pay for our trip expenses, and any additional money will be given to Fabretto to support their programs in Nicaragua. Whether you are able to contribute financially or not, I ask primarily for your prayers for our safety, health, and spiritual growth while we are in Nicaragua. I will carry you with me on this journey in my thoughts and prayers of gratitude. I cannot wait to share my new experiences with you when I come home. Thank you so much for your generous support and prayers.
In Christ,
Kelsey
