I was lucky enough to have had the opportunity to participate in Sheil Catholic Center's service trip to Cusmapa, Nicaragua 3 years ago as a freshman at Northwestern. The trip opened my eyes to the poverty that many people outside of the United States experience, a poverty that I had never witnessed. During that trip, my fellow students and I helped build kitchens for 2 schools near Cusmapa. Helping the children at these schools gain access to better resources was an experience that I cannot describe. I got to know a lot of the kids that we helped, and in only a week, I learned so much about their lives and their culture, which made helping them even more important.
I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel to Nicaragua again to help these children and the rest of the Cusmapa community. I am excited to connect once more with the people of Cusmapa and to grow in my faith and as a person.
I hope that you will consider helping our group mission, whether that be through your prayers or through your financial support. Any amount of donation will help, and I will greatly appreciate any support you give! Additional money beyond the cost of the trip expenses will be given to Fabretto to support their programs in Nicaragua. Thank you for your generous support, and please keep myself and the rest of the Sheil group in your prayers!
