Katie Cassara's Story
As I sit here writing this, I cannot help but smile. The prospect of traveling to a country like Nicaragua to do one of the things I love the most, helping kids, warms me to my core and makes me incredibly excited about life. I have always been big on service but have not been the most disciplined about doing regular service since I came to NU, so when the opportunity arose to have this incredible, enriching cultural experience while helping others, particularly children, I did not hestitate to apply. Truly by God's will, I was given a spot on this trip, and I am so grateful. I am so grateful for the opportunity to bring joy to the children of the Fabretto program, to get to know my fellow Sheil classmates better, and to be enriched in countless ways by the children.
