Each year, the Sheil Catholic Center sponsors an international service trip to Cusmapa, Nicaragua where we work in collaboration with the Fabretto Children's Foundation (www.fabretto.org).  All of our volunteers are students, and many of them rely on the support of our scholarship funds.  Any money raised above and beyond their trip expenses will be given as a gift to Fabretto to support their programs in Nicaragua.  We are grateful for any gift you can contribute!

The Sheil Catholic Center is the Catholic outreach on the campuses of Northwestern University.  We are a faith community of students, faculty, staff and associates who together offer a welcoming place for worship, celebration of sacraments and pastoral care. We promote education and spiritual growth, as well as provide opportunities for service and leadership within the academic setting. Our mission is to transform society by renewing our faith and inviting others to know Christ.  Learn more about the Sheil Catholic Center at www.sheil.northwestern.edu

Katie Cassara's Story
As I sit here writing this, I cannot help but smile.  The prospect of traveling to a country like Nicaragua to do one of the things I love the most, helping kids, warms me to my core and makes me incredibly excited about life.  I have always been big on service but have not been the most disciplined about doing regular service since I came to NU, so when the opportunity arose to have this incredible, enriching cultural experience while helping others, particularly children, I did not hestitate to apply.  Truly by God's will, I was given a spot on this trip, and I am so grateful.  I am so grateful for the opportunity to bring joy to the children of the Fabretto program, to get to know my fellow Sheil classmates better, and to be enriched in countless ways by the children.  I am looking forward to what promises to be an eye-opening and faith-filled experience! If you are able, please donate.  Prayers are always welcome too! Thank you!
